Paper Conservator

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an experienced, engaged, and innovative Paper Conservator who thrives in a collaborative and goal-oriented environment. Reporting to the Chief Conservator and working in close coordination with the Associate Objects Conservator and Curators, the Paper Conservator will help shape our program to conserve works on paper, in alignment with the Museum's priorities. 

Priorities for the Paper Conservator will be to make the newly designed and discipline-specific paper conservation studio fully operational to prepare works for the galleries. In addition, the Paper Conservator will carry out research, collaborate with registrars and curators in the care of objects, cultivate supporters, and initiate scholarly and public programs. Working within a team environment, the Paper Conservator will promote engagement and collaboration within the Museum and beyond, fully embracing the possibilities of a campus-based museum.

Curriculum Support Specialist

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an exceptional Curriculum Support Specialist to assist with researching and teaching. Based within the Education Department and under the leadership of the Mellon Curator for Academic Engagement, the Specialist assists with researching and teaching with the Museum collections. With opportunities to teach in the Museum galleries and study rooms, the Specialist will also provide a light review of interpretive materials. The successful candidate should have teaching experience as well as excellent communication and organizational skills. The position also entails administrative responsibilities, which include scheduling and proctoring academic class visits. The Specialist will also have other duties as assigned in support of the Art Museum’s mission.

Conservation Studio Coordinator

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an engaged, detail-oriented, adaptable, confidential, and versatile Conservation Studio Coordinator who thrives in a collaborative and goal-oriented environment. Reporting to the Chief Conservator and working in close coordination with the Objects Conservator and the Paper Conservator. The Conservation Studio Coordinator assists the Conservation unit in the overall coordination of its activities.

This is a part-time position at 60% time or for 3 days/week.

Museum Store Sales Associate - Temporary

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Museum Store Sales Associate. A successful store associate energetically engages visitors, imparting knowledge and hospitality while incorporating strong selling skills. Professionalism and superior customer service are expected of every sales associate, with a focus on teamwork as well as individual zest for task completion. 

We have immediate openings for casual Museum Store staff for our store located at 56 Nassau Street in Palmer Square, Princeton, and the Museum Store in the new Art Museum building. This is an ongoing, temporary position that requires a minimum of 16 hours up to 32 hours per week, or approximately 2-4 shifts.   Staff are trained to work in both locations.

Registrar

The Registrar has primary responsibility for managing the logistical arrangements for the Art Museum’s robust schedule of exhibitions. The Registrar is the senior member of a team of two registrars responsible for managing the Museum’s active program of outgoing loans from its collection to museums and cultural institutions.  The Registrar also oversees the active incoming loan program.  This is distinct from incoming exhibition-related loans and consists of short- and long-term loans from collectors and institutions.

The Registrar reports to the Chief Registrar, who reports to the Sr. Associate Director for Collections and Exhibitions. The Registrar mentors the Associate Registrar and provides guidance and training to them as appropriate.

Visitor Experience Representative I - Temporary

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Visitor Experience Representative I (VER I) to work at Art@Bainbridge, a gallery housed in the carefully restored colonial-era Bainbridge House at 158 Nassau Street, and the new Art Museum building, opening Fall 2025. This visitor-focused position provides the opportunity to welcome visitors to the newly constructed Art Museum, inspire curiosity and connection with the Museum’s expansive collections, support a dynamic exhibition program, and promote an array of educational initiatives. As part of the Visitor Experience Team (VET) within the Education Department, VERs are responsible for providing encouraging and engaging experiences for all visitors.
